Agnes Locklear Carpenter, 77, of Fayetteville, North Carolina passed away on July 28, 2013 at Highland House of Fayetteville. She was born October 14, 1935 in Pembroke, NC to the late Lofton and Rosie Locklear. She grew up in the Pembroke area of Robeson County. Agnes enjoyed cooking, working in her yard, and working in her puzzle books. Preceded in death by a son Michael at the age of 36, she is survived by her loving husband, Carl E. Carpenter, Jr.; daughters, Evelyn Brandicourt and her husband Damien of France and Joanne Caputo of Carthage, NC; sons, Reverend Kenneth Locklear and his wife Connie of Fayetteville, David Carpenter of Newport, Oregon and Jimmy Groves of Fayetteville; sisters, Mildred Oxendine of Raeford, Catherine Carroll of St. Pauls, Shirley Locklear, and Geraldine Locklear and her husband of Pembroke; brothers, Ervin Locklear and his wife Rita of St. Pauls and Lofton Locklear, Jr. of St. Pauls; 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Agnes is, also, survived by a special friend, Emma Smith. Visitation will be Wednesday July 31, 2013 from 7:00-8:30 PM at McNeill Mackie Funeral Home of St. Pauls with Funeral Services scheduled for Thursday August 1, 2013 at 10:00 AM in Faith Assembly Church of God, 109 Evans Road, St. Pauls, NC. Burial will follow at 12:00 Noon in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, 400 Murchinson Road, Spring Lake, NC.
