Amanda Forte

Amanda “Mandy” Shaw Forte, 71, of Fayetteville, NC passed away on September 5, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lottie and Graham “Pap” Shaw of Parkton, NC and her husband, Donald G. Forte, of Mashpee, MA. Mandy’s love of adventure and people took her many places away from Parkton, NC and she eventually settled in Cape Cod, MA. It was there that she honed her skills as a masterful cook by working in top restaurants like the Mad Hatter on Nantucket and the Roadhouse in Hyannis, where she eventually met her husband Donald. A true Renaissance woman, she eventually became a talented hair stylist, craftswoman, and CNA. It was her faithful love of caring for people and animals that brought her the most joy in life. Whether she was caring for rescued tigers in Las Vegas, or for someone at their bedside in Massachusetts, she was doing what she loved, and they could feel it. Mandy’s spirit, tenacity, warmth, and wit will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind.

Mandy is survived by her siblings, Sandy Taylor of Holly Ridge, NC, Tommy Shaw (Colleen) of Fayetteville, NC, Julie Shaw of Stedman, NC, and Becky Watts (Ricky) of Parkton, NC. She is, also, survived by her nephews and nieces, Doug Skipper (Cindi), Jonathan Odom (Krystle), Sally Shaw and Ally Watts, along with many loving family members and friends. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Fayetteville Animal Protection Society, 3927 Bragg Blvd., Fayetteville, NC 28303, in Mandy’s name, by her request. A visitation will be held Tuesday September 7, 2021 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at McNeill Mackie Funeral Home of St. Pauls with a graveside funeral service scheduled for Wednesday September 8, 2021 at 11:00 am at Bladen Union Baptist Church, with Pastor Gary Lucas officiating. The family is being served by McNeill Mackie Funeral Home.
