Bobby Ray Corney

Mr. Bobby Ray Corney, age 83, of Hope Mills, NC passed away on January 11, 2024. He was born on July 30, 1940 in Cumberland County, North Carolina. Bobby spent nearly his entire life in Cumberland and Robeson County.

He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas Noie Corney and Flonnie Mae Arnold Corney; a son Bobby Ray Corney Jr.: and a grandson Bobby Ray Corney, III; his siblings Thelma Sue Corney, Tate Henry Corney, Thomas Calvin Corney, and Ruby Corney.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 49 years, Connie Taylor Corney; sons Elisha Tate Corney (Leslie) and Curtis Glenn Corney (Betsy); and a daughter Constance Dawn Corney Kinlaw (Brian); his grandchildren, Elizabeth Corney (Reed), Caleb Corney, Hannah Corney, Maddie Corney, Ava Corney, Tymothy Gage Kinlaw(Amy), Brayden Grace Kinlaw; Abbydayle Marie McMillan, Curtis Andrew Corney, and Eli Mac Corney; and 3 great grandchildren Emmett Lawson, Virginia Lawson, and Lilah Lawson; his sisters Liz James and Sarah West; as well as many more family and friends.

Bobby Corney founded Corney Transportation in 1987 and operated the business in St. Pauls, North Carolina until his death. He served on the Saint Pauls Town Board for 8 years, was a member and Deacon of Southview Baptist Church. Bobby is best known among his family and friends for his willingness to serve others in any capacity needed included the shirt off his back.
