Calvin White, Sr.

Calvin Calbert White, Sr., 69, of St. Pauls died Tuesday August 15, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Robeson County, North Carolina February 19, 1948 to the late William Leslie and Gladys Lee McCullock. He was a truck driver for 50 years accruing 5 1/2 million accident free miles and was presented the Highway Angel Award by the National Truck Driving Association. Mr. White's family described him as a "man who could not sit still, instead he had to be piddling in the yard or tearing something up." He truly enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing. I addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Rosie Lee Willis White; sister, Judy Ann White Rumppe; and brother, William Leslie White, Jr. He is survived by his sons, Calvin Calbert White, Jr. and his wife Danna, Rueben Dale Andrew White and his wife Terri, and William Horne White; grandchildren, Calvin Daniel White, Sr. (Stephanie), Johnathon White (Jasmine), Matthew White, and Ashlie Gessner;  great grandchilden, Calvin Daniel White, Jr., Waylon Wes White, and Kason Inman ; brothers, Franklin Sherwood White, Alvin White, Carson White, and Leniol White; sisters, Virginia Little and Sarah Martin. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday August 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Great Marsh Baptist Church with the Reverend Donald Goforth officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery, Rosie's Garden. Visitation will be held Friday August 18, 2017 from 7:00-9:00 PM at McNeill Mackie Funeral Home of St. Pauls.
