Carl Harrison Thaggard, 82, of Parkton, North Carolina died Friday September 5, 2014 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held Wednesday September 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM in Green Springs Baptist Church with the Reverend Jeff Broadwell officiating. A visitation with the family is scheduled for one hour prior to the service, from 10:00-11:00 AM Wednesday September 10, 2014 in the church annex. He was born in Robeson County NC August 15, 1932 to the late Carl and Ruth Fisher Thaggard. A veteran of the United States Army, he served during the Korean War and was awarded the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He retired from the vending machine division of Coca Cola. He is survived by his wife Betty L. Thaggard; sons, David and his wife Vickie, Rodney, and Steven and his wife Lynn and step daughters, Bonnie Jarvis and Shandra Mitchell; grandchildren, David and Jake Thaggard, Dana Smith, Traci Clayton, Tabatha McCaskill, Kara and John Thaggard, Lindsey Jarvis and Sarah Copley; great grandchildren, McKenzie and Millie Copley, Elliot and William Smith and Isaac Thaggard; brothers Charles L. Thaggard and his wife Lillian and Neil A. Thaggard; and sister, Connie Scott and her husband, Sam. Arrangements by McNeill Mackie Funeral Home of St. Pauls.
