Connie Crenshaw Herring, 62, of Rex, NC died Thursday June 1, 2017 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. She was born in Robeson County October 21, 1954 to the late Jack McKee and Barbara Johnson Crenshaw. She loved the Rex community and was a member of Rex Presbyterian Church. Her daughters, Jennifer and Marcia, said that she was good at “canning the food Daddy grew” and she loved cooking. An outstanding cook, it was said that like some people play music by ear, she “cooked by ear” and when others cooked something from a recipe she gave them it just didn’t taste the same. Connie, also, loved having beautiful flowers around her house, especially hanging baskets. Preceded in death by her brother, Jack Crenshaw, Jr., she is survived by her husband Wayne L. Herring; daughters, Jennifer Herring and Marcia Weindel and her husband Joseph; grandchildren, Casey Willis and his wife Ashley, Cody Branch, Erin Herring, Lance Weindel and Chloe Weindel; great grandchildren Elijah Willis and Noah Willis; sisters, Carolyn Davidson and Lorraine Norton; and brother Edward Crenshaw. A Visitation is scheduled for Saturday June 3, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at McNeill Mackie Funeral Home, 319 W. Broad Street, St. Pauls, NC 28384. Funeral Services will be held Sunday June 4, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Rex Presbyterian Church, 1243 Rex Road, Rex, NC 28378, with the Reverend Bebe Briggs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements by McNeill Mackie Funeral Home of St. Pauls.
