James Sutton

James Earl Sutton, 87, of St. Pauls died Thursday June 2, 2016. He was born August 10, 1928 in Lemon Springs, NC the sixth of 7 children of Dan and Nancy Jane Sutton. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris Holloman Sutton; sons Mike and his wife, Beckie, of Raeford and Steve and his wife, Rhonda, of Gray's Creek, He has eight grandchildren: Josh Sutton, Caleb Sutton and his wife, Jen, Andrew Sutton, Carter Sutton, Sara Rigsbee and her husband, Todd, Laura Sutton, Emily Sutton, and Makayla Suttun, and two great grandsons: Dallin Hutchinson and Evan "George" Rigsbee.. Earl was a Korean War combat veteran, serving with the 187th Airborne RCT which included one combat jump. In addition, he served in the NC National Guard. He retired from NCDOT as a construction foreman. The family suggests donations to a charity of one's choice, in lieu of flowers. Funeral Services will be held Sunday 6/5/2016 at 4:00 pm at Great Marsh Baptist Church in St. Pauls, with burial following in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday 6/4/2016 from 6:00-8:00 pm at McNeill Mackie Funeral Home of St. Pauls.
