John Paul McMillan, 60, of Lumber Bridge had his homegoing July 4, 2012. A native of Robeson County, he was born November 27, 1951 to Laura “Lollie” Shaw McMillan and the late Duncan Samuel McMillan. He attended Parkton High School where he was All Conference MVP all 4 years. He attended Methodist College where he was a Baseball standout, named to the First Team All USA South Atlantic Conference in 1975. He was, also, drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers. Following college he taught school and coached baseball at Hoke High School and coached at St. Pauls High School. He, also, served as a baseball coach for the American Legion Leagues and Little Leagues. Preceded in death by his father, Duncan Samuel McMillan and a brother, Hugh Graham McMillan, he is survived by his wife, Claire Daniel McMillan; daughters, Amanda Edge and her husband Richard and Nichole E. McMillan; mother, Laura “Lollie” McMillan; brothers, Duncan Samuel McMillan, Jr. and David Bethune McMillan; sisters, Elizabeth M. Stone and Laura M. Shipe and 5 grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday July 7, 2012 at 9:00 AM in Rex Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Rex, NC, with Reverend Teresa Rutledge officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence of Amanda McMillan Edge, 3459 Shaw Road, Lumber Bridge, NC Friday July 6, 2012 from 6:30PM-9:00PM. Arrangements by McNeill Mackie Funeral Home, St. Pauls.
