Joseph Whichard

Joseph Benjamin Whichard, 77, of Hope Mills died February 8, 2021. He was born in Bladen County on February 1, 1944 to the late George David and Annie Barfield Whichard. About him his family said, “Our loving, generous father has left this world for his new life with our Creator, where he can eat all the Vienna sausages and homemade desserts his heart desires. He held many jobs throughout his life but he treasured the jobs of father, grandfather, and great-grandfather most of all. We love you and miss you, Dad.”

In addition to his parents, George and Annie Whichard, Mr. Whichard is preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Broach and his brother Larry Whichard. He is survived by his wife Marie Whichard; son Darryl Whichard and his wife Tiffany; daughters, Melissa Smith and her husband Ricky, Angie Sports and her husband Jeff, Brittany Whichard and step-daughter Deena Buchanan; grandchildren Joey Whichard and his wife Alyssa, Amanda MacDonald and her husband Sean, Aaron Smith, Ryan Smith, Kayla White and Tyler Sports; great grandchildren Jaymeson MacDonald, Gabriel Whichard, Olin Whichard, Trulee Whichard and Beckett MacDonald; sister Marilyn Cashwell; brother Wayne Whichard; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Graveside Memorial service is scheduled for Saturday February 20, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Bladen Union Baptist Church with the Reverend Larry Dale Whichard officiating. The family is being served by McNeill Mackie Funeral Home of St. Pauls.
