Kathy Blanton

Kathy Sue Drake Blanton of St. Pauls, North Carolina went to be with the Lord on August 27, 2021.  She was born into a proud military family to Donnie and Rachel Drake in Wichita, Kansas on December 12, 1953. She has two loving siblings, Tammy Hein of Lillington, NC and Donnie Drake, Jr. of Johnston City, TN.

She graduated from St. Pauls High School where she met the love of her life, Kenneth Dallas Blanton. Seeing him, she knew there was no other for her. The couple were married on December 23, 1972 at Shady Grove Church in St. Pauls and celebrated over 48 years of marriage. Her dynamic personality and love of people led her to various customer service jobs. It also gave her many opportunities to work with her life-long best friend, Diane Jenkins Edge, who has been a great source of comfort and joy throughout her life. Whether it was cutting hair or serving a meal, she was most fulfilled when helping others.

She and her husband had two daughters, Nickie Blanton Gregory of Erwin, NC and Becky Blanton of St. Pauls, NC. She often said her children were her greatest accomplishment and she strived to give them her all. She succeeded because she gave them all they could ever ask for. Family was Kathy's priority and she will be missed by many, including many beloved nieces and nephews and the families they have created.

Second to her family, Kathy loved sitting on the beach with a book, especially with her sister-in-law Janet Blanton. Thrift stores, superhero movies and anything to do with supporting animals made her happy.

Her life will be celebrated on August 31, 2021 at McNeil Mackie Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 1:00pm with her funeral service to follow at 2:00pm. Graveside burial will be immediately after at Oak Ridge Cemetery in St. Pauls.

The family prays that anyone mourning the passing of Kathy will find comfort in Jesus who said, "I am the Resurrection and the Life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die." John 11:25
