Laura Ayers Powers, 63, of St. Paul's, North Carolina was surrounded by her family and friends when she passed from this life Tuesday October 17, 2017. Laura graduated from St. Paul's High School in 1972. She was an avid athlete who was competitive in basketball, golf, bowling, softball, and tennis. Laura retired from DuPont and was currently employed by Kuraray where she was respected and loved by all. She was active in the community and the St. Paul's Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder. Laura was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Betty Ayers of St. Paul's. She is survived by her children Jennifer Gray (Chris) and Jimmy Lee Powers, grandchildren Aden Gray and Lizzy Gray all of Martinsville, Indiana; brothers Edwin Ayers of Naples, Florida, Stedman Ayers of Carrboro, NC, David Ayers (Debbie) of St. Paul's, NC, and sister Rebecca Azran (Michel) of Atlanta, Georgia. A visitation will be held Saturday October 21, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 PM at McNeill Mackie Funeral Home of St. Pauls, with funeral services scheduled for Sunday October 22, 2017 at 2:00 PM at St. Pauls Presbyterian Church with a visitation from 1:00-2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Cross Creek Cemetery in Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of NC, 401 Harrison Oaks Blvd., Suite 200, Cary, NC 27513 or St. Pauls Presbyterian Church, PO Box 283, St. Pauls, NC 28384.
