Lenwood Davis, 93, of St. Pauls died Friday January 24, 2020 at the North Carolina Veterans Home in Fayetteville. He was born in Robeson County on September 28, 1926 to the late Duncan and Ida Bass Davis. A US Army veteran of WWII, he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and then served in the Army of Occupation for Germany. Following many years of service, he retired from DD McColl. He was a master tinkerer, who enjoyed fixing things. A man of faith, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Pauls, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was preceded in death by his wife, Colean Parker Davis, parents, Duncan and Ida Davis, a sister, Mary Barrentine and a brother Holmes Davis. He is survived by daughters, Linda Suggs and her husband Cleveland, Audrey Autry and her husband Eric, and Elaine Hughes and her husband James, deceased; son, Lenwood Davis, Jr. and his wife Ginger; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Hazel Dent; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Monday January 27, 2020 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 302 S. 2nd Street, St. Pauls, NC, with a visitation being held one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, also at the church, Reverend Pat Hash officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Faith Cemetery. Arrangements by McNeill Mackie Funeral Home of St. Pauls.
