Lloyd Clyde Williams (75), of Rex, North Carolina, entered into his eternal home on March 14, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
Clyde was a beloved husband, father, Grandy, brother, uncle, and friend. He was born to Isaac Jackson Williams, II and Ethel Frances Crenshaw Williams on March 8, 1947. He graduated from Parkton High School, where he met his high school sweetheart and soulmate, Daphne Rose McMillan. He was the first student at Robeson Community College and worked for Pitney Bowes for 32 years. He served in the National Guard for 34 years, where he was First Sergeant of the Parkton Unit. He was a former elder of MacPherson Presbyterian Church, was on the Board of Trustees at the Holden Beach Chapel, and was a board member of the Lumber Bridge Fire Department. Upon “retirement,” Clyde and Daphne founded Hog Heaven Barbecue and Ribs, LLC and bottled their individual sauces and seasonings. They traveled extensively to festivals and events in their “Pig Palace” and to water ski tournaments across the country with their beloved grandchildren.
Family was Clyde’s top priority, and his greatest legacy is how he taught his children and grandchildren to live, not by words, but by his example. Clyde had a heart of gold and was quick to show up if anyone he knew or loved was in need. He would tell you that he was just a country boy at heart and an avid outdoorsman, who shared countless hours in nature fishing and hunting with those he loved. Wherever Clyde went, good stories and fun adventures followed every day of his life. Clyde made many of those wonderful memories with family and friends who were like family at Holden Beach, NC, his second home for more than 50 years. Clyde’s unconditional love and sense of humor is instilled in his children and grandchildren, ensuring his legacy will continue for many generations to come.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Daphne McMillan Williams; daughter, Allison Williams Blair and husband Jeff; son, Ryan Clyde Williams and wife Julia; his precious grandchildren, Will Blair, Wesley Blair, Walker Blair, and Saylor Rose Blair; his brother and lifelong friend, Isaac Jackson Williams, III (Jack); and numerous other special sister and brother-in-laws, cousins, nephews, and nieces.
