Lona Musselwhite

Lona Susie Rice Musselwhite, 58, of St. Pauls died Monday January 4, 2021. She was born August 25, 1962 in Cumberland County to the late Garner Lee and Mamie Louise Jackson Rice. She was a homemaker who had a green thumb in making plants grow. She liked cooking, especially rice and shrimp and anything chocolate. She enjoyed camping at Lake Jordan, 4-wheeling and spending time in Uwharrie National Forest. Lona loved going to the beach and she especially loved watching her son play baseball. Preceded in death by her parents, Maime and Garner Rice and a brother, Jimmy Neal Jackson, she is survived by her husband, James Musselwhite; son, Dylan Musselwhite; daughter, Cheryl Locklear (TJ) all of Lumberton; brothers, Dennis Sibbett of St. Pauls, Garner Rice, Jr. of Florida, and sister, Sandra Cribb (Willy) of St. Pauls; nieces and nephews, Carnell (Haley), Chris (Vanessa), Tina (Herman), Annburnice (Raymond), Garner Rice III (Victoria); and great nieces and nephews, Laikin, Wyatt, Layla, and Atlas. A visitation is scheduled for Saturday January 9, 2021 from 2:00-3:00 pm at the Jackson Family Cemetery, followed by a 3:00 pm graveside memorial service, also, at the Jackson Family Cemetery, with Pastor Gary Lucas officiating. The family is in the care of McNeill Mackie Funeral Home of St. Pauls.
