Marcus Anthony Hedgepeth passed peacefully, surrounded by family, at McLeod Regional Medical Center of Florence, SC. He was 68 years old.
Mark is survived by the love of his life, wife, and caregiver Sarah Catherine Hedgepeth; daughter Candice (Gene) Lambert of St Pauls NC, son Joseph (Alison) Hedgepeth of Dillon SC; grandsons Wren and Cash Hedgepeth of Dillon SC; siblings Wade Dawson (Sandra) Hedgepeth of St Pauls NC, Dwight Hedgepeth of Fayetteville NC, and Jane (Bobby) Davis of Fayetteville NC.
He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph Earl Hedgepeth and Flora Belle (Beard) Hedgepeth of Fayetteville NC; brothers Joseph Earl Hedgepeth Jr. and David Jonathan Hedgepeth.
Mark was born on November 20th, 1955 in Robeson County to Joseph and Flora Belle Hedgepeth. He graduated from Tarheel High School Class of 1974. He received his Bachelors in Business Administration from UNC Chapel Hill class of 1978. He married Sarah Catherine “Kathy” Everette, the love of his life and better half in 1984. The two were inseparable and devoted to one another for 39 years. Mark was employed as a Certified Personal Accountant and Partner at Haigh, Byrd, and Lambert LLP of Fayetteville NC for 40+ years.
He was passionate about his family, and loved the Lord both faithfully and fearfully. His greatest joy was being Papa to his grandsons, Wren and Cash; whether riding them on the tractor or teaching them about the fundamentals of baseball. Mark loved music. He played guitar, lead worship, and served as a deacon for many years at St Pauls Community Church. He loved his church and the family he found within it. He had a heart for missions and traveled to Burkina Faso, West Africa on 3 different trips to minister along with family and friends. It was one of his greatest passions. He also served as CPA for Shattering Darkness Ministries, located in Burkina Faso. His heart beat for the country and its people. But as much as Mark loved all of these things, he loved the Lord first and the Lord most. His life was direct reflection of that, to all who knew him.
Memoriams/Donations can be made to Shattering Darkness Ministries and/or St Pauls Community Church.
