Margaret Eileen Hagen of Hope Mills, NC, died at home on March 17, 2019. She was 69 years old.
Eileen, as she was known to family and friends, was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and for nearly 20 years, a civil servant employed first at Fort Bragg, then at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. More importantly, she was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She spent the last 19 years of her life with a severe back disability that kept her from working, and in that time, she was a continual source of companionship and aid to family and neighbors alike, and parent to a constant parade of cats (and some dogs) to whom she was devoutly committed. To say she is missed by all who knew her is a vast understatement.
Eileen’s generosity of spirit came naturally, and she fostered it through deep Christian faith. She was a member of Red Springs First Baptist Church, and though her health did not allow her to attend regularly, she read her Bible daily and, true to the words of Christ, she did her best to love her neighbor and judge not.
Eileen is survived by her son Timothy Hagen of Madison, Wisconsin. She had no qualms telling anyone and everyone that he was the light of her life and her proudest achievement. She is also survived by her loving mother Lois Hagen of Red Springs, NC; sister Linda Bailey of Robbins, NC; and brother Steve Hagen of Red Springs, NC.
