Marlene (Quick) Herndon Sessoms, 82 of Parkton was born August 9, 1940 in Cumberland Co., NC to the late Odell Robert and Maggie Beula Quick and departed this life, December 20, 2022 at her residence.
In addition to her parents, Marlene is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Sessoms; the father of her children, Worth Herndon and several brothers and sisters.
Marlene leaves to cherish her memories three sons, Michael Herndon (Cindy) of Parkton, Stephen Herndon (Sharolyn) of Parkton and David Herndon of Myrtle Beach, SC; one daughter, Lisa Edge (Brian) of Fort Mill, SC; a niece, Lona Dees of Fayetteville; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Oxendine (Joseph), Jason Herndon, Benjamin Herndon (Ariel), Bailey Edge, Tyler Edge, Amber Walker (Matthew) and Amanda Snader (Jeremy); six great grandchildren, Alaina Oxendine, Caroline Oxendine, Colby Oxendine, Hunter Herndon, Skyler Wetzel and Jayden Snader and a host of other relatives and friends.
Marlene was Assistant Nursing Director of Wesley Pines Retirement Home for many years. She was an active Sunday School Teacher and served on various other committees at Green Springs Baptist Church, one of her greatest enjoyments was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved them very much and encouraged them to read and to be strong Christians. Marlene was also an advocate of missing and abused children and a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy.
