LUMBER BRIDGE - Mary “Mary Willa” P. Ammons, 89, of Lumber Bridge, died at home the morning of Wednesday, December 28, 2022.
Mrs. Ammons was a graduate of Lumberton High School and the Robeson County Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Ammons served her community as an RN for 33 years, retiring in 1987. Mrs. Ammons was also an active member of Lumber Bridge Baptist Church.
Mrs. Ammons was the daughter of the late Russell C. and Mary S. Prevatt, widow of the late Stephen F. Ammons, and mother of the late Wanda K. Ammons.
She is survived by her son, Stephen R. Ammons and his wife, Helen, of Clarksville, Va.; two grandsons, Russell and his wife, Kim, of Raleigh, and Cory and his wife, Katherine, of Southern Pines; and 5 great-grandchildren, Everly, Cyrus, Reza, Ava, and Sullivan.
The family will receive friends, Saturday, December 31, 2022 from 5:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. at McNeill Legacy Funeral Home, 319 W. Broad St., St. Pauls. A graveside service will be held Sunday, January 1, 2023 at 1:00p.m. at Lumber Bridge Presbyterian Church cemetery with the Reverend Gerald Tew officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Lumber Bridge Baptist Church, P. O. Box 46, Lumber Bridge, NC 28357. Arrangements by McNeill Legacy Funeral Home of St. Pauls.
