Our mother was born to William Lafayette Thompson and Georgie Fowler Thompson on September 11, 1941 . Her parents and siblings lived in the small farming community of Bayboro in Horry County, South Carolina. She was one of seven children. Her father died when she was about six years old. She often spoke of how poor they were. She moved with family to Bladenboro, North Carolina where she attended school and married our daddy, Atlas Kinlaw. In the early '60s, we moved to St. Pauls. We were like lot of the people who came to work in Burlington textiles. Many years later, she moved back to South Carolina to be closer to family. She enjoyed her dog, Sunny and a close relationship with Brother Dan. She lost both just weeks before her death. She enjoyed sewing and made clothes for her little girls. Although she was unable to attend church due to her physical condition, I believe she was close to God. She was an independent thinker. But, also, the most unselfish person I have ever known. We will miss her but are glad she is not hurting anymore. Mama,we love you. She is survived by daughters, Gail and Donna, and son, Ronald. She also lost a baby girl for whom she grieved, for as long as I can remember. Her siblings include Cleo, John, and Grace. Five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.Visitation is Friday October 9, 2015 from 5-8 p.m., at 205 South Wilkinson Drive in St. Pauls. A Memorial Celebration of Life gathering is scheduled for Saturday October 10, 2015 from 12-1 p.m., also, at 205 South Wilkinson Drive in St. Pauls, NC.
