Mitchell Kinlaw

Harold Mitchell Kinlaw of St. Pauls passed away on December 25th at the age of 82. He was born on February 15, 1938 to the late Howard & Marie Kinlaw. Mitchell was predeceased by his parents, a brother Gene and his younger sister Janet Ray.

Mitchell is survived by his wife of 63 years Gladys Musselwhite Kinlaw and four sisters: Faye Robinson of St. Pauls, Ann Collar and her husband John of Charlotte, Melba Kinlaw, Cathy Jackson and her husband Wayne, all of St. Pauls.

Mitchell and Gladys were blessed with 4 children; Kenny and his wife Susan, Mark, Julie Robinson and her husband Michael, and Keith. His greatest joy in life were his 9 grandchildren; Aaron, Reid, Trae, Tara, Courtney, Gabbie, Keri, Ali,and Matthew, & 4 great grandchildren Kobe, Cameron, Maddox, and Jasiah.

Mitchell started his career as an Industrial Engineer with Burlington Industries in St. Pauls, eventually retiring in 2009 with Dodger Industries.

He  lived the majority of his life in the Tolarsville community. He was a long time member of Tolarsville Baptist Church serving as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and Youth Leader.

Mitchell was known for his quick wit and desire to help others. He was always quick to rescue animals in need and provide them with a loving home. He loved to spend his time fishing with grandkids, working in his yard, and spending time outdoors. Mitchell was always willing to serve as the family handyman and would tackle any task. If he didn’t know how to fix something he would consult his Reader’s Digest Guide to Handyman Repair and there was always Duct Tape.

Although no longer with us, he will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him. His sweet disposition and incredible sense of humor have guided and entertained his children and grandchildren through life. In our eyes there has never been a more honorable man. We love you Daddy, Granddaddy and are so happy that you are now with your parents, Uncle Gene, & Aunt Janet. We can only imagine how happy you are to feel whole again.

The family would like to express our most heartfelt gratitude to West Bladen Assisted Living Memory Care Unit. We love all of you and thank you for taking such good care of our Daddy in the most difficult circumstances. He loved each and every one of you, as do we.
