Reverend C. Floyd Helms, Jr.

Reverend C. Floyd Helms, Jr., 76, of St. Pauls passed away Friday June 10, 2016. He was born in Kannapolis, Cabarrus County September 22, 1939 to the late Floyd and Berniece Hill Helms. Having been ordained in Wingate Baptist Church in 1968, he served as Pastor in 5 North Carolina churches, Mission Baptist Church in Locust, Center Baptist Church in Wade, Peace-Haven Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, First Baptist Church in St. Pauls, and Rozier Baptist Church in Lumberton, through 48 years of ministry. His love for people from all walks of life was unconditional. He was a licensed barber throughout his adult life owning shops in Wingate and St. Pauls, NC. Floyd is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Collene Williams Helms of the home; daughters, Angie Strickland and her husband Wayne of Stedman and Judy Angel and her husband Mark of Charlotte; son, Barry Helms and his wife Kim of Fairhope, AL; sister, Nancy Smith and her husband Terry of Marshville; 8 grandchildren, Michael Strickland and his wife Brooke, Ashley Strickland Robertson and her husband Johnathan, Hannah Angel Purdie and her husband Alex, Coley Angel and his wife Logan, Seth Angel, Noah Angel, Caleb Helms and Caroline Helms; and 5 great grandchildren, Anna Claire Strickland, Emily Kate Strickland, Natalie Jane Strickland, Rachel Elizabeth Strickland, and Jackson Loren Robertson.  A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday June 14, 2016 at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church of St. Pauls. Family will receive friends following the service.
