Lumber Bridge—Maj. Richard Goodman Hicks, Ret. of Lumber Bridge, left to go to his heavenly home Monday October 3, 2011.
Maj. Hicks was born May 7, 1926 to the late Herbert and Nell Cash Hicks. He was a member of Rex Presbyterian Church and a longtime member of the Lumber Bridge Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to his parents, Maj. Hicks was preceded in death by his wife Elise Wyatt Hicks. He is survived by step-daughters, Carol W. Byrd and her husband Henry of Laurel Hill and Debra W. Mixer and her husband Tom of Lake Wylie, SC; three granddaughters, Jodie Pickler and her husband Terrance of Lumber Bridge, Jennifer West and her husband Jody of Wendell and Hannah Mixer of Lake Wylie, SC; one great granddaughter, Isabella West of Wendell, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 12 Noon Wednesday October 5, 2011 at Rex Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Rex, NC, with Pastor Bebe Briggs, CLP officiating. Starting at 11 a.m., the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at Rex Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.
