Ruby H. Malpass Williams, a long time resident of the Rex community with her late husband, Avon C. Malpass, and recently of the Vander community, passed away on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012. She was born in Duplin County, North Carolina October 9, 1923, a daughter of the late David James and Fannie M. Thompson Holloman. She is survived by her husband, Glenwood Williams; daughters, Carolyn Hawks and Sue Williams; sons, Mike and Randy Williams; and seven grandchildren. A graveside funeral service is scheduled for Thursday 2/23/2012 at 3 p.m. at Rex Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Rex, NC with Pastor Bebe Briggs and Rev. Ed Rogers officiating. Visitation will be from 1p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Thursday 2/23/2012 at McNeill Mackie Funeral Home, St. Pauls. Mrs. Williams was a dental hygienist for over 30 years for the late Dr. L. J. Moore, Sr. of St. Pauls and Dr. L. J. Moore, Jr. of Lumberton. She gave of her time tirelessly as a historian for Rex Presbyterian Church for five years. She also served as the Pastor's Aide for two years and was a member of "The Women of the Church," which made her a Honorary Lifetime Member of that organization in 1990. For the past 19 and one half years, she was the loving wife of Glenwood L. Williams of the Vander community and attended the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Vander for many years.
