Rufus “Brownie” Hunt, 84, of St. Pauls, North Carolina died Wednesday January 3, 2018 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton, NC. Born in Robeson County February 13, 1933 to the late Duckery and Mindy Revels Hunt, he was a carpenter and worked in the construction industry. He was affectionally known as the “Junk Man” because he’d collect anything he could carry, especially copper. Preceded in death by a son, Dennis Ray Hunt, he is survived by his wife Eloise “Nell” Hamilton Hunt; daughters, Nancy Chavis of Red Springs, Cloise Faye Jones of Pembroke and Sheila Jackson of St. Pauls; sons, Eugene Hamilton and his wife Kathy of St. Pauls, Larry Hunt and his wife Annette of Fayetteville, Rufus Hunt, Jr. of Georgia, and Billy Joe Hunt of Lumberton; 15 Grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Funeral Service is scheduled for Saturday January 6, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Cornerstone Holiness Church, 337 S. Elizabeth Street, St. Pauls, NC, with Reverend David Hodge officiating. A Visitation is being held at the church one hour prior to the service, from 1:00-2:00 PM. Burial will follow the service in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
