Weldon Robinson

Weldon Robinson of Saint Pauls NC passed away at the age of 89 on October 25th 2020. He was born in Carteret County on April 7th 1931 to the late Wheelington ”Wink” and Thelma Daniels Robinson. After serving 3 years in the United States Army, he attended Campbell University where he then transferred to East Carolina earning his Bachelor’s Degree in education, later followed by his Master’s Degree in education. He taught History and Drivers Education before becoming Principal at several schools finally settling in Saint Pauls NC, where he retired after 20 years of service. Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bonita Robinson; 4 children, Elise Furmage and her husband Dan, Belinda Kinlaw and her husband Randy, Michael Robinson and his wife Julie, and Kent Robinson and his wife Tina; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

All though education was his career, his true passion and joy in life was on his 3 acres of land outside of Saint Pauls. He had 1.5 acres of grapevines which he planted and nurtured to maturity. He sold grapes on the side to individuals and the local grocery stores. He also made homemade wine which he gave to friends and family. He always had a full garden he tended along with a few cows and chickens he raised. At one point, even a hay field which he planted himself and with some help from local farmers would bale hay to feed his cows. There were bee hives which he built and tended himself collecting the honey to jar. He was always looking for some way to be self-sufficient, not as a necessity but for the pure enjoyment of it. But one of the things he enjoyed the most came from the Martin houses he built. Every morning when the birds were there he would sit on his patio with a cup of coffee and just watch them as they flew in and out their houses and listen to the tranquil chirps they would make.

Education may have been his career, but the love of working at his home was his enjoyment and passion in life.

A visitation will be held Wednesday October 28, 2020 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at McNeill Mackie Funeral Home of St. Pauls, with funeral services scheduled for Thursday October 29, 2020 at 4:00 pm at First Baptist Church in St. Pauls, Reverend Pat Hash officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton. The family is being served by McNeill Mackie Funeral Home.
