William "Bill" Alex Parker, Sr., 88, of St. Pauls died Wednesday 11/26/2014. Funeral services will be Saturday 11/29/2014 at 2PM at St. Pauls Community Church, 492 Veterans Rd., St. Pauls, NC with burial to follow in Gardens of Faith Cemetery, Lumberton. A visitation is scheduled for Friday 11/28/2014 from 6-8PM at McNeill Mackie Funeral Home of St. Pauls. He was born in Harnett County, NC October 7, 1926 to the late McIver and Beatrice Byrd Parker. As a US Army veteran of WWII, he received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal. He served as a Deacon in the First Baptist Church and in 2003 he received the Meacham Award for outstanding volunteerism from the St. Pauls Chamber of Commerce. He was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and retired as Manager of Joe Sugar's of St. Pauls after over 50 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife of 44 years, Annie Ruth Gibson Parker and sisters, Barbara Parker Huggins and Colean Parker Davis. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Denning Parker; son, William A. Parker, Jr, and wife Renee of Clinton; daughters, Judy Parker of White Lake, Debbie Parker Humphrey and husband James of St. Pauls, Mary Sue Parker Smith and husband Tommy of Hope Mills; and stepson, Roger Bean and wife Sharon of Melbourne, FL.; grandchildren, Brandon Parker of Las Vegas, NV, Jamie Graham and Jon Graham of St. Pauls, Angela Parker of Roanoke, VA., Jennifer Phillips of Lumberton, Katie Humphrey Dries of Hope Mills, Emma Humphrey of Rowland, Nicole Bean and Matthew Bean of Melbourne, FL., Amanda Stewart of Clinton, Paige Capps of Vander, Bradley Smith of Roanoke, VA and Charlotte Smith Booth of Fayetteville; 15 great grandchildren and a loving pet, Pepper.
